The magazine came today!

The Feb. issue of Cat Fancy came today. Cosmo is on pages 40 and 41. The article turned out great. I am sorry to say that they did not give credit to my wonderful photographer. But I know that Photos by ALF took great pics. I am a very proud human friend to a great CAT!

The gift of dental work

Today I found a new dental group.  They are warm and caring for their patients.  Today was very difficult to trust a dentist again but this group of people care.  They donated their time today to help cancer survivors and current cancer patients.  Today I had to face that I am going to be a cancer survivor, a title that no one wants.  I spoke for the first time on camera about my struggle this year and how people put their lives into the hand of doctors everyday.  I thought that I always asked questions about my health but the lesion was found in September of 2010 and I trusted what I was told.  The fabulous people at Dr. Waite's office will teach me how to be trusting again but also how to ask questions and not let anything go on for so long.   Cosmo has also been told that he may come with me at anytime.

How we met....

5 years ago I had a special long time companion that died.  Fuzz was 22 years old and very special.  That day was sad but the events of that day led me to Cosmo.  He was being fostered with his siblings and mother by a wonderful family.  Little did I know just how special he was going to be to me.  From the beginning he acted as part dog.  His best friend was a dog and enjoyed hanging out at the lake with Daisy.  Cosmo was walking on leash as from the beginning.  He was rather strange looking because his body was normal in size but his legs and tail started to grow.  His tail became longer than his body and he started climbing and jumping everything.   Looking back on his behavior he was very clingy.  Cosmo was also very hyper active and drove his grandparents crazy that first summer.  But he survived the first 5 months without any major mishaps.  Then he started to get into trouble.  Cosmo thought that if he pawed at the door to go out he should be able to have fun and go.  Usually that would be okay, but he would forget to wait and get a leash on first.  Luckily the kids in the complex were good at cat hunting.  I quickly found out that if I allowed him to take daily walks then he would stop running out of the house.  He enjoyed all the kids and started going to school with me on a regular basis.  Cosmo interacted so well with the students and other people he met that I knew pet assisted therapy was his calling.

Cat Fancy interview

I was contacted by the NEA staffer who interviewed us at the RA this summer. She told me that a reporter from Cat Fancy magazine wanted to contact us to write an article.  The interview was last Saturday.  On Sunday we had photos taken to send off to the magazine. The article should be in the Feb. edition.  What a wonderful way to get our story out.

NEA RA 2011

So many new  things happened to me this past week.  Mom took me to this big huge place with over 7,000 teachers!  What a wild time I had!  Mom and I were interviewed by a reporter from the NEA and she helped us tell our story.  Everyday we were stopped by people who wanted to know all about us.  Some were nice and friendly but some called my mom very ugly names or they made fun of her.  I did my job and kept focus on Mom so she was safe.  Everyday I worked very hard.  It was scary to be in such a huge space with so many people.  If I thought an airport at Christmas was bad this was much worse.  I've got to go but will be back to tell you more about each day.  Mom kept a journal of each day so that she can you all posted as to what happened. Mom was approached by someone that thinks she should write our story in a book for kids.  That's going to take a lot of  thinking to make that decision.  Well, I've got to go.

toilet training

THE BIGGEST ISSUE TRAVELING OVERNIGHT IS THAT MOM HAS TO BRING A LITER BOX.  I HATE IT WHEN IT SPILLS ALL OVER THE HOTEL AND THEN I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH LITER.  THE OTHER TIMES I HATE LITER IS WHEN MOM FORGETS TO CLEAN THE BOX.  SO I STARTED TRAINING TO BE ABLE TO USE THE "BIG BOY" POTTY.  TONIGHT IS THE FIRST NIGHT.  GRANDPA SAID I BETTER BE TOTALLY TRAINED BECAUSE GRANDMA MAY FORGET TO REMOVE THE POTTY SEAT BEFORE SHE PEE'S.  MOM THINKS THAT I AM PRETTY SMART AND THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO DO THIS REALLY FAST.  IF I WANT TO BE ABLE TO GO TO THE NEA CONVENTION THIS SUMMER I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO TRY MY HARDEST.

CityKitty

Tonight I ordered a toilet training kit.  My mom didn't know I use her card but I'm sure she won't mind.  I was watching Shark Tank and couldn't believe it.  I won't have to put my paws in litter any more.  Just think, when I travel my mom won't have to bring a litter box!!!!!!!!  I will keep you posted on how things go.

Connections

My dad fell earlier this week and cracked a rib.  Mom went through the same thing in the fall.  But their new addition to the family, Tigger, has been by his side.  Most of the time he has been with Dad, but he is sharing his time with Mom.  It is wild that this little guy has connected with them so quickly.  Unlike the cat who lives next door to me, Betty Lou.  While cat sitting this time she was hidden away all week until she charged after me.  Wow!  As I tried to shut the door she was running so fast and with such determination she hit her head on the door.  I was truely affraid for her saftey when she then tried to get to me through the window and got caught in the blinds. She finally got out of the blinds and continued to carry on for awhile.  Betty Lou is a one woman cat and thank goodness she has Pat.

The newest addition.

Last weekend was very exciting for Cosmo.  He met the newest addition to the Zanitsch family.  Mom and dad were presented with a 2 month old male kitten.  He is an orange tabby who will keep my parents very busy.  Cosmo put up with the little one and all the playing.  On Tuesday both of them just dropped.  They could not keep their eyes open.

A New Year

This last trip to Florida was filled family and loss.  I helped my parents say goodbye to their beloved cat Maggie. Cosmo new that Maggie was not well and he tried his best not to be a pest. Mom and Dad are waiting to see about adopting another cat.
This year I am looking forward to teaching art classes. I will be heading to the studio every chance I get to design new pieces.  I am hunting for black cigar boxes for my fist class. Sometime next week I will meet with the owner of the store and see how she likes my ideas.
